Mattancherry's spice warehouses built Kochi's fortunes long before it was a tourist stop -- and some are still in use today. A guided tour through them traces the trade route from harbour to warehouse to the world.
Some of the warehouses we visit are still working businesses -- this is real trade, not a museum reconstruction.
