NRI Homecomings: See Kerala Again, as a Guest in Your Own Home State

Not another family visit. A private journey that lets your children see where you come from, and lets you rest for once.

Private journeyPrices in AEDWhatsApp-first planning

You know it well. The flight lands, the car is late, and for the next two weeks you are a host, a guest and a driver all at once. Relatives to see, weddings to attend, a house to open. You go home, but you rarely see home.

And your children, if they were born in the Gulf, often leave with the same flat impression: the airport, a hot house, a lot of aunties. Not the paddy fields. Not the tea hills. Not the canal where their grandfather learned to swim.

A Raw Kerala homecoming is the other kind of visit. We take care of the logistics. You and your family experience Kerala as guests, with the depth of someone who belongs there and the comfort of someone who doesn't have to organise it.

---

Rediscover the Kerala you thought you knew. A tharavad (ancestral home) visit, a morning with a toddy-tapper's family, a banana-leaf sadya in a home kitchen. Tharavad Visit · Village Family Night · Banana Leaf Sadya Experience

Let your children do what you did, and what you never did. Paddle a canoe, shape clay, try a chenda drum, learn a first Mohiniyattam step. Canoe Ride, Village Canals · Clay Pottery · Percussion Workshop · Mohiniyattam Dance Class

Sit with Kerala's other histories. Fort Kochi's Jewish, Dutch and Portuguese layers, and Kerala's old Christian communities. Fort Kochi Heritage Walk · Village Church Heritage Walk · Oldest Jewish Synagogue

Come for the festivals. Temple Festival Walk · Onam Festival: Full Celebration Day · Snake Boat Racing Experience

Rest, properly. Ayurveda, yoga and a plantation morning, for the parents who rarely get one. Ayurvedic Consultation · Yoga at Sunrise

Gulf calendars are short and precise: Eid breaks, the school summer holiday, mid-term weeks, the December and New Year gap. We plan around them.

BreakLengthShape
Homecoming Break5 daysKochi and the backwaters, with the family kitchen and village canal at the centre.
The Long Homecoming7 to 8 daysAdd the Munnar highlands for the children's first tea hills.
The Festival Homecoming5 to 7 daysBuilt around Onam, a temple festival or Vishu.

Our minimum journey is 5 days, so there is no shorter long-weekend format for now.

  • Prices in AED. Choose AED on the currency selector. Final quotes are confirmed when we design your itinerary.
  • WhatsApp-first. Plan, ask and confirm on the app you already use, at hours that suit Gulf evenings.
  • Multi-generational by default. Grandparents who live in Kerala can join a day. A private vehicle makes it easy.
  • Gentle on jet-lag and heat. Early starts and long afternoon rests are part of the plan.
  • No hosting duties. Relatives are welcome, but you are not running the day.

---

  • Indian passport holders need no visa to enter India.
  • Foreign passport holders of Indian origin may qualify for an OCI card. We cannot process visas, OCI or flights, but your curator will point you to the right official portals.
  • Travel insurance is strongly recommended, including medical cover.

Coming from abroad or from the Gulf? See our international visitors guide for visa basics and the official fee schedule.

For comfort: December to March, driest in February and March. For festivals: Vishu in April; Onam in August or September. For quiet and Ayurveda: the monsoon, June to September, which also overlaps the Gulf summer holiday. See Best Time to Visit Kerala.

Can I bring my parents and my children?

Yes. Many homecomings are three generations. Share ages and mobility needs and we'll set the pace around them.

Can relatives from my village join for part of the day?

Yes. A private journey means we can add them for a meal or an activity. Tell your curator in advance.

Do you charge NRI prices or tourist prices?

We charge one transparent price for the journey, based on party size and stay tier. There are no separate rates.

How many days do we need?

Five days is the minimum journey we design. Seven to eight is comfortable for a first experience of the highlands and the backwaters.

Can we visit our family home or village?

Yes, in the right place, and we'll fit it around your plans. We can include a family visit as part of the day, and your driver stays with you throughout.

Is this only for Malayalis?

No. Anyone with roots in Kerala, or any family curious about it, is welcome. This page is written for Gulf and diaspora families. ---
