A Kerala Family Holiday Children Remember and Parents Enjoy

Short days, hands-on moments and home-cooked meals, all on a private journey that moves at the speed of the youngest traveller.

Private vehicle and driverAll meals includedA curator who knows your family

A good family holiday is not a smaller version of an adult one. It has a different rhythm. Children need something to do, a reason to be curious and room to be tired. Parents need to stop being the logistics department.

Kerala suits this better than most places. The distances are short. The people are warm with children. And the things that fascinate a child (a canoe in a canal, clay under the fingers, a banana-leaf lunch, a sky full of stars) are the same things we build journeys around.

---

One big thing a day, not three. A morning activity, a long lunch, a quiet afternoon. We stay well under the daily maximum.

Children are doers, not spectators. Cooking, paddling, shaping clay, plucking tea.

Everything is included. Every meal, every activity, one drink a day for the adults. No bills to settle at the table.

One curator throughout. One person who knows your children's names, and who can change the day if someone is unwell, overtired or simply done.

Under 5

Short outings, familiar food, nap-friendly timing. We keep drives short and plan flexibly around sleep. Good picks: Village Kitchen Meal, Local Home · Chinese Fishing Nets, Kochi · Banana Plantation Walk · Village Bakery Visit

Ages 5 to 12

The sweet spot: curious, energetic, hungry to try things. Good picks: Canoe Ride, Village Canals · Kerala Cooking Class, Family Kitchen · Clay Pottery, Village Potter · Coir Weaving Workshop · Tea Factory Visit and Plucking · Percussion Workshop · Birdwatching, Backwaters and Wetlands · Stargazing Night, High Range

Teenagers

They want to do, not watch. Something a little adventurous, and something they can tell their friends about. Good picks: Cycling, Village Trails · Kayaking, Backwaters · Kalaripayattu, Live Training · Munnar Dawn Trek · Backwater Village Photography Walk

Grandparents and multi-generational groups

Everyone sets the pace. Seated, shaded and scenic options are always available, and nobody is left out of the day. A private vehicle means anyone can rest and rejoin.

  • Food: every meal is included and arranged with your needs in mind. Tell us about allergies in advance. We cannot guarantee an allergen-free environment in a village kitchen, so we plan with you, honestly.
  • Medical: our on-ground team stays reachable throughout, with contacts at reputable local hospitals and clinics. We strongly recommend comprehensive travel insurance with medical cover.
  • Health before you travel: talk to your doctor or travel clinic about vaccinations and precautions.

Travelling from abroad? Our international visitors guide covers the e-Tourist Visa, health, money and dress.

The cooler, more settled months from December to March (February and March are the driest) are the most comfortable for long days outdoors, and align with UK, European and North American school breaks (Christmas, New Year, February half-term). The monsoon is quieter and greener but calls for more indoor, hands-on days. See Best Time to Visit Kerala.

Is Kerala good for kids?

Yes. Distances are short, activities are hands-on and the people are generous with children. The main considerations are heat and humidity in spring and rain during the monsoon, both of which we plan around.

What is the best age to bring children to Kerala?

Any age works with the right pace, but 5 and above is the easiest. Under 5s can enjoy a gentler version with more rest.

Can we travel with grandparents?

Yes, and many families do. Tell us about mobility needs and we'll adapt the pace and the activities.

Are the journeys really private?

Yes. Every journey is a private party with a dedicated vehicle and driver.

What about food for fussy eaters?

Kerala food is gentler than many expect. Rice, dosa, appam, fresh fruit, fish and bread are all common, and we can adjust spice levels. Tell us in advance about allergies and strong preferences.

How many days do we need?

Six to seven nights is comfortable. Longer is better; shorter feels rushed with children.

How does the cost work for children?

Children under 5 are half price; from age 5 the adult rate applies. The live planner shows the total as you add travellers. ---
